Updating NextCloud

I've run into an issue updating NextCloud from version 12.0.1 to 12.0.3. The quick version is that somewhere along the way NextCloud downloaded 12.0.2, but it was not used to update. When the updater saw a file in the downloaded updates folder, it was unable to verify the signature.

The fix is to delete the old 12.0.2 zip, download the 12.0.3 zip to that location, then re-run the updater. After that switch, everything went smoothly.

Network-Wide Ad Blocking with Pi-Hole

The guys at Pi-hole have created an awesome little project that will do network-wide DNS ad blocking. No more ads, and no more installing adblock at home. The best part is that it forwards DNS to your local DNS server, so your local DNS stays in place unaffected. It's easy- just fire up a raspberry pi with raspbian or load it to a VM. The footprint is incredibly small- I gave it 1 CPU and 512MB memory and it hasn't affected my internet connection speed at all.

Drupal Error 500 With A Correct Server Configuration in VirtualMin

This past week I migrated some sites that were originally on their own server to a cloud server running VirtualMin. After migrating the sites, everything seemed to be in place including the MySQL database, files, DNS, etc. However, I kept getting a 500 Internal Server Error when loading the site. To fix this, I had to change options in the .htaccess file for both the main site and the files directory (sites/default/files): Change Options +FollowSymLinks to # Options +FollowSymLinks Options +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch
